Botswana Trade Commission (BOTC) is an independent and dedicated National Body which carries out preliminary investigations and recommend any tariff changes necessary to the Southern African Customs Union (SACU) Tariff Board. The commission conducts in-depth research which informs an industrial development-friendly tariff policy for Botswana, taking into account the policy preferences of other SACU member states. The commission also regulates imports and exports to and from SACU and determine eligibility for infant industry protection.

Workshop Objectives:

  • To raise awareness of the Commission’s legislated mandate in the areas of trade defence instruments and industrial competitiveness in the common custom area.
  • To educate stakeholders on how effective delivery in international trade defence instruments can contribute to employment retention and creation thereby supporting Government’s objective of promoting investment, growth and sustainable employment.
  • To make the business community well versed with the knowledge regarding available trade defence instruments to deal with unfair trade practices and create business competitiveness

To attend the workshop, kindly confirm attendance with Bontle and Kewame at bontle@bb.org.bw / kewame@bb.org.bw respectively.
