GOVERNMENT PROMISES DECENT WORKING CONDITIONS

Botswana joins the world to commemorate the International Labour Day. The day is celebrated when the world is facing the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic. In his address this morning, His Excellency, The President informed Batswana that the Government is committed to the welfare of workers, citing that robust measures have been put in place to cushion workers and companies during the lockdown period. Furthermore, His Excellency, said " Government is working on an Economic Stimulus Package that will be implemented post the COVID-19 virus."
His Excellency, further stated that in February government, the International Labour Organisation, Business Botswana, Botswana Federation of Trade Unions and Botswana Federation of Public Sectors Unions signed the second generation Botswana Decent Work Country Programme (BDWCP). The BDWCP aims to promote workers’ rights, productive and decent employment opportunities, as well as enhance social protection and strengthen social dialogue in our country.
