BUSINESS BOTSWANA AND BOTSWANA TRADE COMMISSION SIGN MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING
27 Nov, 2024
Today marked a significant milestone as Business Botswana (BB) and the Botswana Trade Commission (BOTC) signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This agreement represents a pivotal step in advancing Botswana’s economic transformation and fostering a thriving, competitive business environment.
This collaboration reflects a shared vision to empower industries, promote fair trade, and enhance industrial competitiveness. With Botswana’s youth unemployment rate at 38.2% and overall unemployment at 27.6%, partnerships like this are vital for building a diversified economy that generates sustainable, high-paying jobs.
The MoU establishes a framework for cooperation, dialogue, and capacity building, strengthening support for businesses and industries across the nation. It highlights the importance of aligning efforts between BOTC and BB to achieve Botswana’s national industrialisation goals.
Norman Moleele, CEO of Business Botswana, emphasised the organisation’s critical role as an Employer's Federation, Chamber of Commerce, and Representative Body for businesses in Botswana. He detailed Business Botswana’s mandate to advocate for a conducive business environment through policy and regulatory reforms, working in partnership with the government.
As the BOTC CEO aptly remarked, "Moroto wa esi ga o ele;" – working together achieves far greater results than working alone. This partnership underscores Botswana’s unwavering commitment to economic growth through collaboration, innovation, and private-sector participation.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all attendees and the media for amplifying this monumental achievement. Together, we are building a better Botswana!
