BUSINESS BOTSWANA CEO MEETS UKRAINIAN AMBASSADOR TO ESTABLISH COLLABORATION

 Gaborone, Botswana – January 20, 2025 – Building and enhancing engagement with diplomatic missions remains a key priority for Business Botswana. This morning, Business Botswana’s CEO, Mr. Norman Moleele, paid a courtesy call to the Ambassador of Ukraine to Botswana, His Excellency Dr. Olesksiy Syvak, to discuss potential areas of collaboration and partnership between the private sector and Ukraine.

The meeting, held at the Ukrainian Embassy, was aimed at strengthening economic relations between the two countries. His Excellency Dr. Syvak expressed Ukraine’s interest in sharing expertise with local businesses, particularly in the education and agriculture sectors. The Ambassador highlighted that Ukraine has significant knowledge and experience that could benefit Botswana’s private sector and its long-term economic development.

In response, Mr. Moleele briefed the Ambassador on Business Botswana's mandate, emphasizing the organisation’s role in facilitating a conducive business environment for the private sector to thrive.  

Mr. Moleele reaffirmed that Business Botswana remains committed to building international partnerships that drive economic growth, particularly by linking local businesses with global networks of knowledge and expertise. As part of the discussions, the Ambassador agreed to connect Business Botswana with the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce, paving the way for a strategic partnership that could benefit businesses in both countries.

Additionally, Mr. Dmytro Reiznechenko, the First Secretary for Consular Issues at the Ukrainian Embassy, presented the Nazimo platform, a Ukrainian initiative designed to support business registrations and facilitate international trade connections.

Accompanying Mr. Moleele during the visit were Mr. Mpaphi Tsholofelo, Head of Policy and Research, and Mr. Kagiso Koyabe, Head of Capacity Building and Advisory Services.
