In his speech, Mr. Nwako expressed his gratitude for the support being received from members and stakeholders. He stressed the independence of the PSDRF, highlighting that it allows for the efficient and transparent management of funds. Mr. Nwako also called on the private sector to continue its support, citing that it will not only strengthen the ongoing response to the current disaster but also ensure that the fund remains sustainable for future emergencies.

PSDRF Board Chairperson, Mr. Phirie, provided an update on the fund's progress, noting that over P10 million has been raised in contributions from more than 40 companies, with in-kind donations valued at approximately P3 million. These contributions, which include food, water, medical supplies, and logistical support, are being allocated to meet the immediate needs of affected communities.

The allocated funds will be strategically directed towards both immediate and long-term relief efforts. A total of 5.5 million has been earmarked for urgent relief initiatives. This includes 2 million for infrastructure repairs to restore damaged roads, P1.5 million for the restoration of sewage systems in Mochudi to ensure proper sanitation, and P1millon to desilt the Segoditshane River for uninterrupted water flow. Additionally, P1 million has been allocated for the Francistown community, with P500,000 directed to Ghanzi, tailored to meet the specific needs of each region.

Furthermore, P500,000 has been set aside to support businesses affected by the floods. Mr. Phirie confirmed that the fund is also dedicated to assisting businesses in continuing operations and recovering from the crisis, helping them resume productivity and growth as swiftly as possible.  He urged all affected businesses to complete the survey, which will assist in assessing eligibility for assistance.
