Botswana and India Strengthen Ties Through High-Level Business Engagement

The Botswana Investment and Trade Centre (BITC) today hosted a high-level delegation from the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) to its head office in Gaborone, in a strategic effort to strengthen economic ties and explore investment opportunities.
Led by His Excellency Mr. Bharath Kumar Kuthati, High Commissioner of India to Botswana, the CII delegation included senior executives from a wide range of sectors such as telecommunications, infrastructure, engineering, agriculture, power, water, automotive, healthcare, and pharmaceuticals. Among them was Mr. Balasubramanian Ramachandran, CEO of Shiriraam Engineering and the delegation lead.
The forum focused on exploring investment opportunities and building long-term, mutually beneficial partnerships between Indian and Botswana enterprises. Business Botswana participated actively in the forum, represented by Mr. Joseph Willie, Sector Chair for International Relations, along with members from local industries
Mr. Kagiso Koyabe, Head of Capacity Building and Business Advisory at Business Botswana, invited the Indian delegation to tap into the organisation’s network of over 2,500 member companies to explore joint ventures and partnerships. He also expressed interest in future trade missions to India and proposed the development of a formal Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to solidify bilateral collaboration.
This exchange reaffirmed Botswana’s position as a gateway to African markets and Africa and underscored the growing momentum in Botswana–India economic relations.
