Local Manufacturing Summit Officially Launched Successfully

The highly anticipated Local Manufacturing Summit was officially launched today, Thursday, 7th August 2025, bringing together key stakeholders to reimagine Botswana’s industrial development and value-chain potential.
Mr. Charles Siwawa, CEO of the Botswana Chamber of Mines (BCM), delivered warm welcome remarks, setting the tone for a robust exchange of ideas and collaboration between the private sector and stakeholders in the manufacturing space. He additionally acknowledged Business Botswana, Stanbic Bank, UNDP and other stakeholders for partnering in the event.
The summit was officially launched by Mr. Joseph Ramotshabi, Senior Projects Manager at BCM, who emphasized the importance of localized value chains and the role of the mining sector in catalyzing manufacturing potential.
Delivering the keynote address, Mr. Kagiso Koyabe, Head of Capacity Building and Business Advisory at Business Botswana, challenged both the public and private sectors to foster inclusive industrialization, support local SMEs, and create enabling environments for youth-led enterprise.Held under the theme "Shaping the Future of Botswana’s Manufacturing Sector: Opportunities of Industrial Manufacturing and Agro-Processing", the summit will take place from 1st to 2nd September 2025. It will offer a strategic platform for business leaders, policymakers, and experts to share insights and practical solutions for boosting Botswana’s manufacturing competitiveness.
