Tourism & Environment Sector High-Level Consultative Council Meets to Drive Reform

This afternoon, the Enviroment and Tourism Sectoral High-Level Consultative Council (SHLCC) met to strengthen Government and Private Sector collaboration to advance the tourism and environmental sectors.
Co-chaired by the Minister of Enviroment and Tourism, Hon Wynter Mmolotsi and Business Botswana’s Sector Chairperson, Ms Lily Rakorong, the discussions focused on reducing barriers to doing business, unlocking investment, creating sustainable jobs and strengthening Public-Private Partnerships.
Key issues included tourism lease concessions, Chobe congestion, illegal operators, permit delays, tourism leakages, the Tourism Master Plan and ongoing legislative reforms as well as Meetings/Incentives/Conferences/ Events (MICE).
The meeting also reinforced the need to make tourism and environmental resources work more effectively for businesses and create more opportunities for Batswana.
